Shawn A. Mach is an Associate Attorney at Klug Law Firm. Mr. Mach joined the Klug Law Firm in 2013 as a Law Clerk. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 2010 and his Juris Doctor degree from the Michigan State University College of Law with honors in 2013.
Prior to joining the Klug Law Firm, Mr. Mach clerked for the Honorable Donald L. Allen, Jr., District Court Judge at Ingham County’s 55th District Court, where he was exposed to a wide range of civil matters. He also spent two semesters working at the Michigan State University College of Law Alvin L. Storrs Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. While working at the Tax Clinic, he assisted taxpayers in halting IRS and State of Michigan collection activity, and prepared installment agreements and offers in compromise to resolve his clients’ tax liabilities.
Since joining the Klug Law Firm, Mr. Mach has continued his diligent representation of taxpayers, working with clients throughout mid-Michigan to resolve their federal and Michigan tax liabilities. He has helped many taxpayers settle their tax liabilities for a small fraction of the amount they owe through the federal and Michigan offer in compromise programs. Mr. Mach is experienced in IRS and state of Michigan collection processes and procedures, and works diligently to seek a fair resolution for his clients.
Mr. Mach has successfully represented clients in business and commercial litigation, both prosecuting and defending breach of contract actions, claims for conversion, and other claims arising under the Uniform Commercial Code. He has successfully obtained preliminary injunctions and restraining orders to protect the security interests of his clients. Once his client’s claim is reduced to a judgment, Mr. Mach works quickly to enforce and collect on his client’s judgment using all of the tools provided by the law, including judgment liens, garnishments, and execution on personal and real property.
Mr. Mach is also experienced in bankruptcy proceedings, having prepared and filed chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions and chapter 13 repayment plans on behalf of our clients. Mr. Mach has an expertise in means test calculation and Federal and Michigan bankruptcy exemptions, allowing his clients to retain the maximum amount of property allowed by law.
